Few, among many, children who benefitted tremendously from homeopathic treatment.

• History: Five-year-old youngster, 6 months history of generalized blotchy erythematous rash with itching mostly noted after warm shower, strenuous play activities, warm covers at night, while sitting/playing in sunny area. Rash resolves spontaneously after few hours and faster if taken Benadryl but recurs whenever body gets exposed to warmth. No history of anaphylactic symptoms. Previous allergy testing negative for tested food and environmental allergens. No drug intake. No pets, cockroaches or dust mite situation (5905293).

  Examination: Mild generalized erythema with many pin-point eruptions scattered all over body (worse on chest and back) on normal looking, non-eczematous, skin following a bath taken an hour ago.

  Assessment: Possible HEAT-INDUCED URTICARIA with only partial and temporary response to Benadryl.

  Treatment: Single homeopathic remedy given twice a week. Within 2 months the rash and itching gradually subsided with no recurrence despite strenuous activities or warm shower. Remedy decreased to once a week for next 2 months that kept his symptoms fully controlled.

  Plan: Will discontinue remedy after 2-3 months (030511).

• Toddler with a 2-year history of ECZEMA suffering from severe itching – sometime scratching until skin bleeds.  History of being warm all the time as if “heat is emanating/radiating from his body”.  Tried all sorts of lotions, steroid creams, and anti-allergic medication with no lasting relief.  Responded to homeopathic remedy with significant improvement within 3-4 weeks.

• A young child having RAGWEED and GRASS ALLERGY resulting in marked runny nose, sneezing often associated with asthmatic symptoms responded well to homeopathic remedy after 2 months of treatment.
  
  Comments:  No allergy symptoms/wheezing described for 2 consecutive seasons while on weekly dosages of homeopathic remedy during the spring and fall.  Did not require any anti-allergic/anti-histaminic/bronchodilator therapy while on homeopathic treatment.

• An 9-month old infant with severe INFANTILE ECZEMA associated with marked rash and itching all over body improved after 10 days of homeopathic treatment after getting no response from multiple creams, lotions, anti-allergic and steroid medications.
  
  Comments:  Completed treatment after 3 months and had no recurrence as of 2 years follow up (0306).

• Young child having ECZEMA with dry skin, severe itching, and scratching until skin bleeds.  Remained very irritable and restless from itching whole day.  Had no success from daily Zyrtec, steroid creams, lotions, and non-milk formula.  Within 2 weeks of starting homeopathic medicines, parents observed nearly 90% improvement in itching, and normal looking, baby like, skin they have not seen in months.

• Within 12 hour of illness, a primary school youngster with FOOD POISONING became moderately dehydrated, listless, very weak, and exhausted from severe diarrhea and vomiting almost every hour after eating outside food the night before.  Given homeopathic remedy every 30 minutes for 4 doses and then every 2 hour.
  
  Comments:  Did not vomit or had diarrhea even once since after the first dose of remedy was given.  Felt well, was up and about, and drinking well within 2 hours, and ate well after 6 hours of such an acute illness.

• Young child with SEVERE INFANTILE ECZEMA since early infancy, involving whole body, especially joint areas, presented with dark, thick skin with cracks, oozing, crusting, and bleeding marks from constant scratching.  Spent days being restless, irritable crying, and nights with disturbed sleep due to itching.  Received no relief, or cure, from steroid and newer topical allopathic treatment; was advised to continue creams/lotions and wait for spontaneous improvement someday.  Within a month of homeopathic treatment, the child’s symptom of itching improved nearly 80-85% and skin became softer with complete disappearance of cracks, oozing and bleeding marks. 
  
  Comments:  The cranky, irritable, and constantly itchy child was happy, playful, and friendly during follow up visit.

• 4-year-old youngster with a history of recurrent, UNEXPLAINED EYELID SWELLING just about every 2 months for over 4 years.  Associated symptoms included slight erythema of eyelids, itching and mild discomfort from heaviness of the lids; the swelling of eyelids often resulted in marked puffiness with inability to open the eyes.  No associated other eye symptoms, known allergies or systemic illness.  Allergist prescribed Claritin/Zyrtec which did not prevent episodes despite daily intake; Benadryl sometimes helped the swelling a little but did not shorten the duration of episode which usually resolved over 3-4 days.
  
  On 4^th days of starting homeopathic remedy, patient developed another episode of eyelid swelling but much milder than usual and disappeared only after 1 day.  No Benadryl was given.  The homeopathic remedy was stopped after 1 month (6305297).
  
  Comments:  No recurrence of episodic eyelid swelling 3 months later despite discontinuation of all medication (030306).

• Young, primary school-age child having RECURRENT WHEEZING, for nearly 3 years just about every 1-2 month on average,usually starting in the middle of the night, and always FOLLOWING A COLD type illness.  No known allergies.  Has been going to daycare since early infancy.  Had few quite severe episodes of asthma requiring visits to Emergency Room.  After sometime usual doses of Albuterol and Pulmocort failed to provide relief.  Because of frequent and severe wheezing, was advised to take chronic, multi-therapy with oral Singulair, antihistamines, bronchodilator and steroid; parents only gave Singulair and refused other medicines (6205296).
  
  Comments:  Within a month of homeopathic treatment, there was only one minor episode of wheezing.  Subsequently, during the 9 months, there was one episode of cold without wheezing and one episode of mild wheezing without preceding cold.  Acute remedies helped relief wheezing without need for inhaled Albuterol/steroid.  Parents decided to discontinue Singulair.  During next 6 months, had no more frequent colds or wheezing.  Homeopathic discontinued after 10 months with no recurrence of any colds or asthma episodes for nearly 2 years (0808).

• Young infant came for homeopathic treatment of CHALAZION with crusty lid margin of 6 month duration.  Eye doctor advised surgical drainage under general anesthesia after warm soaks failed to resolve it.  No other medical problems were described.  Within a month after homeopathic remedy was given, the chalazion disappeared with normal looking lid and the margin without any further nodular appearance or the crusting.

• A young child had multiple WARTS on UPPER LIP that recurred despite surgical removal of some bigger ones.  All warts disappeared completely within 2 weeks of homeopathic remedy (5006350).
  
  Comments:  No recurrence noted during several months after discontinuation of treatment (0808).

• A 3-year old youngster was having RECURRENT EPISODES OF COLD with runny nose, cough worse at night often associated with vomiting of swallowed mucus, and wheezing with shortness of breath just about every 4-6 weeks, one after the other, since started going to daycare about a year ago.  Seen by pediatrician and pulmonologist multiple times and treated with different antibiotics; also given Pulmocort, Albuterol, and Singular almost on a regular basis.  Within 2 months of homeopathic treatment, the need for bronchodilator decreased significantly and after few months parents stopped all medicines completely in consultation with pediatrician (0506305).
  
  Comments:  While on homeopathic treatment, and even after discontinuation of all allopathic medicines, the child did not have a single episode of typical cold/cough/wheezing he used to have nearly 6-8 times a year (0808).

• A 2^nd grade youngster was having RECURRENT COLD type illness with mild fever, COUGH and WHEEZING just about every 6-8 weeks for nearly 4 years.  Over the years, treated with Rhinocort, Singular, Zyrtec, Albuterol, Pulmicort, etc, with only temporary relief.  In between the cold and wheezing episodes, the wet cough sort of persisted, worse in the morning and associated with excessive thick, whitish-green, sticky mucus that was often swallowed.
  
  Within 4 months of homeopathic treatment, all recurrent and persistent symptoms disappeared; parents stopped all allopathic medicines 2 weeks after starting homeopathic treatment (7307448).
  
  Comments:  At 1 year follow-up, the child continues to do well, remains asymptomatic, enjoys good health, did not miss any more school days.  Treatment continues with decreasing dosages of remedies (1108).

• Superimposed on severe eczema of several months duration, a primary school youngster came for persistent MRSA CELLULITIS of leg with periodic exacerbations unresponsive to several antibiotics and steroid cream treatment.  At initial evaluation the skin on the back of leg, knee and lower thigh was swollen, dark red with patches of black skin, thick, crusty, oozing, cracked, bleeding, ulcerated, looking like a raw meat with tenderness to even the slightest touch (5708508).
  
  Comments:  After only 4 dosages of single homeopathic remedy, family reported significant improvement.  Within 2 weeks the entire leg improved nearly 90-95%.  At 3 month follow up, the whole thigh, knee and leg skin was completely normal except for some residual but improving hyperpigmented areas (0109).

• 5-week old infant with erythematous, pimply, yellowish rash spreading to head, chest, hands and back within 3 weeks of first appearing on face was brought in by parents who believed in homeopathy as the rash was not improving with Hydrocortisone.  Examination revealed SEBORRHIC DERMATITIS type lesions affecting scalp, cheeks, eyebrows, shoulders, chest, back and upper extremities (2908480).

  Comments:  Within few months of homeopathic treatment, all rashes healed completely.  Two months after stopping the remedies, infant continues to do well without any recurrence.  Observation without remedies continues (0109).

• History: Twenty seven month old infant with a history of rash around mouth, chin, both cheeks, chest, as well as in the folds of knees and elbows since 3 months of age. Derm doc diagnosed joint eczema, PERI-ORAL ECZEMA, given Elidel and other steroid creams with only partial and temporary improvement. Also diagnosed to have IMPETIGO/staph dermatitis that seemed to linger on. Frustrated parents consulted 7 dermatologists in 2 years with advice to use increasing strength of Hydrocortisone cream, antibiotics and moisturizers without any satisfactory improvement (0111722).

  Symptoms: Redness, swelling of skin, flakiness, excessive itching, bleeding, burning and crying when exposed to water, sleeplessness.

  Examination: Moderate peri-oral eczema with red spots as if burst vesicles, rawness of skin. Moderate eczema front of elbows and back of knees with similar changes.

  Homeopathic treatment: Two remedies given over a period of about 6 months.

  Follow-up:

  • Nearly 80% improvement within 6 weeks of starting the first remedy. Required another remedy after 3 months.
  • Treatment was continued with only twice weekly dosing of the remedy for about 6 months with complete resolution of eczema from all affected parts; in addition, parents reported the skin becoming smooth - like a baby skin - again.
  • Remedy was stopped after about 9 months of treatment.
